Now this has a lovely, whimsical little story. A friend of mine, originally from Ireland and quite the Chaucer fan, mistakenly read the Melbourne suburb name “Nunawading” (pronounced ‘none-uh-WADDing’) as “Nun, a-wading”. So I tried to make her one.
Except that I couldn’t quite get the balance to work as a wading nun, so she just became a standing nun. Still, I love how her face turned out. It was my first attempt to make a doll, and I think she came out just fine.
